A tour planner shows you the most beautiful route. Fahrklar answers the questions that come next: when do I leave to stay dry? Where do I take a break, and where do I stay overnight? Is there roadworks on the way? Only once that is settled does the route go into the navigation app.

How do I plan a route in Fahrklar and use it in Komoot, Calimoto or Kurviger?

You plan the route in Fahrklar, add breaks and stage destinations and export the result as a GPX file.

1. In the route planner, enter start, destination, vehicle type and desired start time and let Fahrklar calculate route and weather.
2. Add the suggested breaks and, for multi-day tours, the accommodation as stage destinations to the route.
3. Check closures and roadworks and, if needed, set an extra waypoint to drive around them.
4. Save the tour and export it under "My tours" as a GPX file, for multi-day tours optionally one per stage.
5. Import the GPX file into Komoot, Calimoto, Kurviger or your sat nav and navigate as usual.

The GPX file contains the route as a track. Breaks and stage destinations are part of that route, so it leads past them; they do not appear as separate named markers in the navigation app.

What does Fahrklar optimise on my route?

Breaks: Fahrklar places breaks at your rhythm, by kilometres or minutes, preferably in rain phases, and plans fuel or charging stops before your range runs out. It suggests cafés, restaurants, fuel stations or car parks that are open at your arrival time.

Accommodation: with a maximum number of kilometres per day, Fahrklar splits long tours into daily stages and suggests hotels, guesthouses, hostels or holiday flats at the end of each stage. One tap makes an accommodation the stage destination.

Closures and roadworks: from the Plus plan, Fahrklar checks the route for closures and roadworks at the planned travel time. If one lies on your route, you set a waypoint next to it and Fahrklar calculates the detour.

Start time: from the Starter plan, Fahrklar searches three hours before and after your desired time for the departure at which the route stays driest.

Can I continue planning a Komoot, Calimoto or Kurviger route in Fahrklar?

Yes. Export the tour from your app as a GPX file and drag it into the import field of the Fahrklar route planner. Fahrklar shows a preview with length and elevation gain and takes the route as waypoints, as many as your plan allows.

Fahrklar then calculates weather, breaks and stages for this route. Between the waypoints Fahrklar recalculates the route; with many waypoints it follows the original very closely, while small deviations are possible on very twisty back roads.

Which app do I use for what?

Calimoto and Kurviger are strong on twisty motorcycle roads, Komoot on cycling and hiking tours, and all three navigate you on the road. Fahrklar takes care of the planning around it: weather per route segment at your arrival time, start time, breaks, overnight stays and roadworks.

If you use Fahrklar for the complete planning and the navigation app only for riding, you end up with a route that fits weather, breaks and stages.
